Ciel Mobile App for Refugees

Ciel
Background: RISE was founded to help refugee children live healthy, safe, and meaningful lives. Founded by Sergio Medina after working in camps and seen the magnitude of human suffering; he interviewed 1000’s of children and heard about how long they’ve waited in detention; having witnessed bureaucratic crawl and lack of information getting in the way of refugees getting the help they need…he's guided by the basic principle: we can do better. From that principle, springs action.
CIEL (the mobile APP) was not just created as a Big Data and tech innovation for refugees. But also reinventing the database and creating an alternative, more productive system, called an “actionbase.” The actionbase takes information and translates it into action to address identified needs.
The inspiration is that RISE can be part of building a more effective and efficient service delivery system.
My Role: Moved by RISE’s mission I offered to partner with them in bringing their Ciel App to life and donate my UX/UI skills. When I met them they had rough wireframes and user flows. I partnered with the founders to create a seamless user experience by applying best mobile practices. They also asked me to mock some higher fidelity screens of the app to pitch for investors and partners.
RISE and their Ciel App is now partnering with IDEO.org.
